Karamtola Community Hospital (KCH)
Since November 1992 Karamtola Community Hospital (KCH) set its footsteps and started its journey at a place called Karamtola in Pubail union under Gazipur district, in Bangladesh. It is about 28 kilometers away from the capital city of Dhaka; it is well connected by roads with both Dhaka and surrounding districts.
The inception of this hospital was very modest, as it started as a field project of the registered NGO named Presbyterian Fellowship in Bangladesh (PFB). Initially it had two program components – a) CHDP-K referral clinic and b) Community Development Activities. At that time the field project was named Community Health and Development Program-Karamtola (CHDP-K). So the Karamtola Community Hospital now is often referred to as CHDP-K.
With time marching on, the simple CHDP-K referral clinic of 1992 has passed through various challenges and now holds its head high. Now it has successfully become a secondary level clinical service provision. It is popularly known to community people as Karamtola Hospital. The local people including auto-drivers and rickshaw-pullers also lovingly call it Karamtola Christian Hospital.
Located in the beauty of the nature, Karamtola Community Hospital (KCH) makes a bridge between community and the clinical professionalism. It is a pride for the locality as well. For many treatment-seekers, it is a dependable and effective medical care centre too.
Born and nurtured in prayers of the pioneer Presbyterian Missionary doctors of USA and South Korea, Karamtola Community Hospital (KCH) is a bright witness of continued involvement of the global Christian communities in Bangladesh. Further it is a unique place continually promoting doctors, nurses and staffs to work wholeheartedly. The hospital proclaims the love of Christ and adds comfort and smile everyday to the ailing faces of patients from far and near.
